To cook popcorn on the stovetop:
Heat oil in a pot with a lid over medium-high heat
Add a few test kernels, then add the rest of the kernels once the first ones pop, wait 30 seconds, and return to heat, shaking occasionally until popping slows to 1-2 seconds between pops
